My late Partner, Gene Allan and I just started working for Jerry Ross who was about to hook up with Berry Gordy Jr.. Jerry told us that he could not pay us until the affiliation paperwork was officially signed.
It was a proud achievement for Jerry, who was going to become “Motown New York”.
I started to search out a handicapper in the New York Post named, “Henry Hecht”.
His “Best Bet” of the night, seemed to be correct each and every night for two nights in a row.
I latched on to this guy’s picks and sure, enough, for seven straight nights I won anywhere from $75.00 to $150.00 (NET!!!) per night .. then, on the eighth day, we were paid.
As a result, I never even looked at Hecht’s picks again.
Thank you Henry and Thank You, Yonkers Raceway, in wonderful Yonkers, New York!
Again, another case of, “I would rather be lucky than GOOD!”
